For over a decade I have provided pro bono services for active duty service members, veterans, children, and mothers of abuse. This stems from the belief that legal services should not depend on ability to pay. As part of my practice, I set aside meaningful time each year for pro bono representation. I have received, for the last three years, recognition from the American Bar Association for providing more than 50 hours of pro bono services to active duty service members. I have been recognized by the KCMBA Military Matters foundation for providing free legal services to veterans. I have also helped create recent Kansas case law for active-duty service members stationed overseas.

If you or your organization cannot afford legal counsel and believe you may qualify for pro bono or low bono assistance I am happy to speak with you about possible pro bono representation. I do, however, only take a handful of pro bono matters at once, and limited types of cases.

Past pro bono Engagements:

• Representing mother and child in Protections from Abuse trial.

• Represented a service member in a guardian dispute issue.

• Represented a mother of abuse in an acquittal and expungement of a criminal matter arising out of her being physically attacked.

• Represented a client in a minor infraction matter.

• Represented a service member in a code enforcement matter.

• Represented a veteran in a landlord-tenant dispute.

• Represented a reservist, his wife, and his daughter in a Missouri adoption.

• Represented a service member in a consumer protection matter.

• Represented a service member and created Kansas case law on a debt collection matter involving service of process in Kansas not being appropriate when stationed overseas.

• Represented a service member to unestablish paternity after a paternity test revealed he had not fathered his wife’s child.
